Hi Kelly. Visiting your work here after you found me on Notes, great to read some of your work.
The moment when you "would have given almost anything to be in that dad's shoes" is really sweet. I'd like to hear more about your self as a father. Perhaps you've written about this elsewhere. My own story on that score is here:

Very cool. I've seen that vignette you described play out many times over the years, in many airports. I would think it would be especially poignant now that both of my kids are out of the house and on their own.
Have to say...the first one of these I listed to today as I was working, I felt sure was a link back to a segment from This American Life on NPR.
It's well deserved. My oldest streams professionally and works in public affairs for the Florida National Guard. As a result, in helping him with his stream, I've become the resident "sound guy" on the service desk. You are doing an incredible job, not just with content, but with production.
I've been listening to NPR for 40 years. Your intro and the sound fit right in. If I hadn't have come to this site directly, I honestly would have thought it was a segment from one of their shows.
Wow man..struck a very visceral chord. Also, It’s fascinating that the moment in the airport led you to this reflection. I’ve got so much to learn. Keep ‘em coming. -JG

Also -- I couldn't help but notice this piece has the same title as another of mine, also about The Last Time—in a different way:

Cheers brother
Right on friend. Will dig in.
